Our Philosophy

Why TVAH?

TVAH comes from Tvacha — skin — and Aha, the moment of delight when care truly lands.

The brand was born from one question: what if skincare could nourish the skin in a way that felt honest, intuitive, and deeply rooted?

We found our answer in ghee-based Ayurvedic care, especially Shata Dhauta Ghrita — a traditional preparation where ghee is washed one hundred times until it transforms into something soft, light, and beautifully comforting for the skin. TVAH is our way of bringing that wisdom into a modern ritual. Not skincare as excess. Not skincare as a trend. Skincare as nourishment. Skincare as a return to self.

"It’s a slow process in the making! That isn't a limitation - it's the entire point."

Not Applied.

Absorbed.

TVAH is felt, not explained. The formulations are designed to become part of you — absorbed into the skin, completely. A lipid profile your skin-barrier already understands.

Ritual for Modern Skin

One jar. One step.

TVAH belongs in modern life — composed, intentional. No elaborate multi-step routines. Just one moment of nourishment that fits whatever your rhythm of life.

Start in the shower and as the last thing your skin receives before rest. TVAH doesn't demand a new routine — it enhances the one you already have.

A Letter From the Founder

The story behind TVAH.

I have always believed that skincare should feel simple, honest, and deeply nourishing.

My own relationship with skincare began with sensitivity. Since I was young, my skin has been extremely reactive and prone to rashes. I struggled to use most creams on my face or body, and for a long time, there was only one cocoa butter, pH-balanced cream from the US that my skin could truly tolerate.

Perhaps that is why I naturally leaned towards what felt familiar, gentle, and trustworthy — ingredients from the kitchen, from tradition, and from the women before me.

Growing up, I heard my grandmothers and great-grandmothers speak about the benefits of ghee, coconut oil, almond oil, haldi, neem, and kesar. These were not trends then. They were part of everyday care. My mother would make simple face packs at home, and we used these ingredients as body oils, healing rituals, and quiet acts of nourishment.

In 2016, we began white-labelling cosmetics, and my interest in research and development only grew deeper. I had the opportunity to learn about ingredients, formulations, textures, stability, and how products truly behave on the skin. The more I learnt, the more I began to wonder: could ancient Indian skincare wisdom be made easier, more elegant, and more accessible for modern consumers?

There was one phrase I kept hearing again and again: “Ghee smells.” And somehow, that became the very thing I wanted to rewrite.

By 2019, I began telling my husband that we should create a line of ghee-based skincare products. I knew ghee had been trusted for generations, but I also knew that for today’s consumer, the experience had to feel refined, comfortable, and beautiful to use.

That journey eventually led me to Shata Dhauta Ghrita and A2 ghee. I was fascinated by the depth of the process, the patience it required, and the transformation that happened when ghee was washed one hundred times. I would find myself awake at 3:30 in the morning, reading more and more about it — intrigued, amazed, and often messaging my team with ideas before the day had even begun.

Then came one of the most important parts of the journey: sourcing.

For me, the ghee had to come from a place of care. I wanted to know how the cows were treated. I wanted the calves to be fed first. I wanted the process to be rooted in respect, not extraction. After a long search, we found a source that aligned with this vision — one where the preparation of ghee and Shata Dhauta Ghrita was done with patience, integrity, and reverence.

India has a wealth of ingredients that have been used in skincare and wellness rituals for generations. I knew I wanted to honour that wisdom, but not in a way that felt old-fashioned or difficult to use. I wanted TVAH to feel modern, sensorial, and luxurious, while staying deeply rooted in where it came from.

That quiet aha — the moment something truly nourishing lands on the skin — became the north star of TVAH.

Every product has been created with the intention to nourish, comfort, and care for the skin without overwhelming it. I have tried to keep the formulations as thoughtful and minimal as possible, using ingredients that feel familiar to the skin and respectful of its natural rhythm.

TVAH is created for different skin needs, across ages and lifestyles — for anyone seeking skincare that feels nourishing, honest, and rooted in care.

TVAH is my way of bringing together everything I have lived, learnt, questioned, and loved — the sensitivity of my own skin, the wisdom of my grandmothers, the science of formulation, and the belief that skincare can be both ancient and modern, simple and luxurious, effective and deeply soulful.

I hope you enjoy using TVAH as much as I have enjoyed creating it.

With love,

— Meeta Ghuwalewala · Founder, TVAH

What We Believe

Fewer ingredients.
Greater intention.

Radical Transparency

Every ingredient on the label, sourced traceably, and chosen for what it does — not just for shelf life or feel.

Ancient Over Modern

Shata Dhauta Ghrita has been documented in the Charak Samhita for over 5,000 years. We didn't invent it — we remembered it, and rebuilt the supply chain it deserves.

Traceable

Every Gir cow is traceable. The milk is hand-collected only after the calf is satiated. Nothing is mass-produced — and that's the entire point.
